Each year in Northern Ireland, 26,000 people require a lifesaving blood transfusion. These transfusions are given to premature babies, people undergoing operations, those who have been in accidents and people receiving treatment for cancers. This means we need 1500 people to come forward every week to donate. There are around 1000 donation sessions every year across more than 240 locations in Northern Ireland, so there is sure to be a donation session near you.
We also have sessions in universities, schools and workplaces and offer a variety of educational talks and presentations about the service.
